Embarking on a Mediterranean adventure: a guide for tourists on a Malta tour

Malta has a surprising array of sites and attractions that can astonish even the most traveled individuals. The country has a lot of factors on it side, making it one of the most beautiful countries in the world, thanks to its combination of old beauty charm and contemporary features. Only in Malta can one find a UNESCO World Heritage Site with the most sprawling night life, or a country filled with religious artifacts side by side various opportunities for sporting activities. This makes a Malta tour irresistible as you'll get the chance to try everything the world has to offer in one place.

Anyone on a Malta tour should not these magnificent sites and attractions. Of course, one can simply go on an organized Malta tour as to be relieved from the pressure of navigating through the country. However, doing a Malta tour alone has its advantages, and many individuals are taking advantage of this. Here are some of the sites that one should not miss on a Malta tour:

The UNESCO World Heritage: A Malta tour is not complete without even visiting these historical sites, the one of the country’s many testaments of its rich culture and several thousand-year-old history. The city of Valetta, for one, is a UNESCO World Heritage. As the capital, Valetta houses many of the country’s more urbane attractions, with its historical flare adding more flavor to the usual night out or the typical stroll in the city. Valetta is filled with 16th century architecture, although it also houses some of modernism’s most remarkable designs; from the historical churches such as St. Paul Co-Cathedral to the palaces and the theaters, such as the Magisterial Palace of the Grandmaster and the Manoel Theater, respectively. What’s even more astounding is that Valetta was bombed during the Second World War, and many of the sites existing now are remnants from this sad age in history. This city makes a Malta tour both enjoyable and even educational.

The Hypogeum: Located in Paola, Malta, the Hypogeum of Hal-Saflieni has the distinction of being the only underground temple in prehistory. Another UNESCO World Heritage Site, Malta’s Hypogeum is a prehistoric necropolis or burial place. It has three levels: the first are natural caves, similar to the tombs in Xemxija, also in Malta; the second has several rooms such as the Oracle Room, the Holy of Holies, and the Snake Pitl; while the third level is used for storage. A Malta tour is not complete without visiting this attraction. Although the Hypogeum of Hal-Saflieni is a popular attraction, it can only accommodate 80 visitors a day due to its age for preservation purposes. Visitors are advised to get reservations, as it takes several weeks before one can be accommodated. Therefore, ample preparation for those on a Malta tour is required if they want to visit this site.

The Megalithic Temples: Obviously one of the musts in a Malta tour. A popular megalithic temple is the Mnajdra, another prehistoric structure that predates even the Stonehenge. Ggantija, on the other hand, is considered as among the oldest man-made religious sites in the world. This site is popular for the gigantic Neolithic structures. The architecture and construction of these temples are considered to be impressive since there were no tools back then that could help people form these structures.
