There are many things to do in Malta’s capital city, Valetta; it is not named as one of the World Heritage sites by UNESCO for nothing. Being the capital city, it is obvious that there are a lot of things to do in Malta’s capital city because most of the major establishments and attractions are in the city or near the city. Valetta is also a great site for the Catholic practice called Visitation of the Seven Churches during Holy Week (a period where the Catholics remember the death of Jesus Christ, a central figure in the Catholic faith), where on visits seven churches in a day, preparing a special prayer (called a novena) at every church. Among the more popular churches in Valetta is the Our Lady of Victories Church, the first building ever built in the city. Valetta also houses the St. John’s Co-Cathedral, the most renowned church in the country due to its intricate design and its overwhelming size and appearance.
Visit the palaces—This is another of those popular things to do in Malta, especially during tours. These palaces served as the residence of the knights, while others were for the Maltese nobility. Among the popular palaces in the city are the Magisterial Palace of the Grandmaster, the Auberge de Castille, Auberge d’ Italie, Casa Rocca Grande, and the Auberge d’Aragon.
Visit the museums—Going to the museums is one of the more intelligent things to do in Malta’s capital city, as it will help tourists understand the country more. Considering that the country is very historically rich, Valetta has a lot of museums in several areas such as natural science such as Archaeology, arts, religion, and history. Among the popular museums in the city are the National of Museum of Archaeology, the Grandmaster’s Palace Armory Museum, the Malta War Museum, the St. John’s Co-Cathedral Museum, National Museum of Fine Arts, and the Toy Museum.
